When UPS says emergency situation it means there's something going on that is an emergency that prevents them from shipping the package to you.
The UPS emergency situation could be natural disasters, flooding, earthquakes, severe weather or anything else that is considered an emergency that is out of UPS control that prevents the delivery or shipment of your packages.
Most often though the UPS emergency situation means that severe weather is occurring such as hurricanes, flooding, ice storms, icy roads or a snowstorm etc.
Severe weather, natural disasters, and other conditions beyond UPS control can occasionally delay or disrupt the UPS services.
If there is an active service disruption, it will appear on the UPS website.
A gold alert ribbon will also appear at the top of all ups.com pages.
There's nothing you or UPS can do to move your package along during the emergency situation except wait it out.
It can be a few days to a week or so before your package moves.
