It is OK to spend a day in bed as long as you don't do it too often and as long as you're getting plenty of exercise and eating healthy.

It is OK to stay in bed all day once in awhile but you shouldn't do it everyday or more than a day at a time.

Staying in bed all day or too long can lead to bed sores and other health issues.

You need to get up and move around often to keep your blood moving and to keep your mental health in check.

Laying around or sitting around too much without moving and exercising can lead to heart attack, strokes, high blood pressure, blood clots and more.

Our bodies are meant to move around and not stay in bed all day.

However if you need to or want to stay in bed for a day and only get up to use the bathroom, get something to eat etc then that is fine.

Just make sure you don't do it too often and get plenty of exercise.

The side effects of staying in bed all day include development of bedsores and body aches, especially in the lower back.

Lying in bed all day is also associated with an increased risk of stress and depression, and some other psychological and cardiovascular ailments.

When you lie in bed for a long time, there is no effective body weight and the muscles begin to atrophy.

In reality, the muscles will decrease in size and strength to adapt to whatever stress they must work against.

It is important to realize that physical activity stimulates your metabolic, or energy, system.

There is some evidence that sleeping in on weekends may recoup some sleep debt, but experts still recommend consistency as the best approach for healthy sleep.

Sleeping in on two days of the week may be better than not getting enough sleep for seven days, but if you get more sleep all week long, that's even better.
