The definition of a wounded warrior is someone who is severely injured or very ill as a result of something that happened in the war.

For example if someone was fighting in the war and lost both of their legs or even one leg and is in a wheelchair then that is a wounded warrior.

The formal Navy definition of a “wounded warrior” is any Sailor or Coast Guardsman who has a serious illness or injury requiring long-term care that may necessitate a Medical Evaluation Board/Physical Evaluation Board (MEB/PEB) to determine fitness for duty.

In AFW2, a Wounded Warrior is defined as someone who is very serious or seriously wounded, ill or injured.

They have complex medical issues that keep them from performing one or more tasks in the military, many facing medical retirement following years of treatment.

The WWP mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors who incurred a physical or mental injury, illnesses, or wound, co-incident to your military service on or after September 11, 2001.

You may also be eligible for the program if you are the family member or caregiver of a Wounded Warrior.
