You might want to give him or her five minutes or so to finish up before doing the diaper change if he or she is too young to be able to tell you when he or she is finished.

Older toddlers (at least age three or so) may be able to say “all done” (or something similar) when they are finished peeing and/or pooping, or be able to tell you if you ask them.

You can tell if a toddler is done pooping their diaper or doing their business by watching them.

Once you notice they are pooping their diaper they will usually begin squatting and will usually have a poop face to them.

I could always tell when my toddlers were pooping their diaper as they would always get this cute look on their faces before and while they were pooping their diaper.

Your toddler will sometimes stop for a few seconds, poop some and then go back to walking and then stop again and poop some more and repeat the process until they are done pooping.

Depending on how much the toddler has to poop it can take around 10 to 15 minutes for the toddler to stop pooping.

If they are old enough to talk you can ask them if they are done pooping yet.

I always gave my toddlers at least 15 minutes after they began pooping before I changed their diaper so that I gave them enough time to finish.

Sometimes you may think a toddler is done pooping their diaper and then 5 minutes later or so they may poop again.

But usually 10 to 15 minutes is enough time to allow the toddler to finish pooping.
