Normal healthy pee should be a pale yellow to deep amber color or even sometimes clear in color.

The most optimal color for your urine is a pale yellow.

If your pee is a darker yellow or orange, it can mean you are becoming dehydrated.

An orange urine or pee color could indicate a serious liver condition.

Darker brown pee or urine can be caused by foods or medication.

Normal urine color ranges from pale yellow to deep amber which is the result of a pigment called urochrome and how diluted or concentrated the urine is.

Pigments and other compounds in certain foods and medications can change your urine color.

Beets, berries and fava beans are among the foods most likely to affect the color.

Cloudy or milky urine is a sign of a urinary tract infection, which may also cause a bad smell.

Milky urine may also be caused by bacteria, crystals, fat, white or red blood cells, or mucus in the urine.

If your urine is without visible urochrome or yellow pigment, it's considered colorless urine, appearing “clear” to you.

This colorless urine is sometimes due to drinking an excess of water, while other times it can signal a problem with the kidneys.

When you're healthy and your kidneys and bladder are functioning properly your pee color should be clear in color or pale yellow to deep amber.
