How long do you have to wait to take out a second mortgage?

After taking out a mortgage on one home how long do you have to wait before applying for and taking out a second mortgage on a second home?

As long as you qualify for the second mortgage and have the down payment for the second mortgage and a good credit score you should be able to take out the second mortgage right after you take out your current mortgage.
