Pinewood is one wood you should never burn in a fireplace since it burns hot and pops a lot and can throw embers out into the room which can cause a house fire.
Also never burn any treated wood in your fireplace because the treated wood is toxic when burned and could kill you.
Other than that just don't burn trash in the fireplace and certainly not wrapping paper.
Keep your Chimney clean and you should be safe burning the wood.
