You can get drunk off of medicine.

Some medicines such as NyQuil and some other cold and flu medicine contain alcohol.

Some teens and those under the age of 21 use the medicine as a way to get drunk since they cannot purchase alcohol.

Drinking alcohol based cough medicine though to get drink is not healthy and could cause a person to overdose on the medicine.

So you could get really sick or even die as a result of trying to get drunk off of medicine.

Even overdosing on alcohol can cause liver failure and cause alcohol poisoning and death.

So it's never good to drink a bottle or more than a bottle of cough medicine to get drunk.

If you want to get drunk it's better to drink beer or other alcohol without the cough medicine.

But even then drinking too much alcohol is bad for you.

Most adults think of sticky, syrupy cold medications as a lifesaver when they're sick.

Teens, on the other hand, may turn to these substances in order to feel drunk without drinking alcohol.

Many cold medications contain dextromethorphan, also called DXM.

Some teens inhale household products like glue, Freon, aerosol sprays, cleaning fluids, gas from whipped cream cans, and even mothballs for a high that makes them feel drunk.
