Infants and children under age 2 years with a UTI may have fever, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or foul-smelling urine.

Children over age 2 years with a UTI usually have the typical symptoms of a bladder or kidney infection similar to adults.

To prevent a UTI make sure you wipe the 2 year old after changing diapers even if they are wet and ensure the 2 year old drinks plenty of water.

To get your 2 year old to drink more water provide them with their own special drinking bottle or sippy cup etc.

Use some tiny water bottles (4 or 8 ounces) that are easy for kids to hold and drink.

Teach and encourage them to use the faucet to fill their cup or how to use the water dispenser on the fridge.

Set up a reward system when your child drinks more water.

Any amount of water over 34 ounces is considered too much water for a 2 year old.

On average, it's best to strive for around 2 to 4 cups (16 to 32 ounces) of water per day for toddlers ages 1 to 3.

Along with their milk intake and the fluids in their foods, this will provide enough liquid to meet their needs.

It is important to note that children should drink the number of 8 ounce cups of water equal to their age, with a maximum of 64 ounces of water for children over the age of 8.

These amounts do not include other beverages they may consume in a day such as milk and juice.

To hydrate your toddler give them a water bottle or sippy cup of water, juice, tea, orange juice, fruit juice etc.

Offer frequent sips of water or, if your child doesn't feel like drinking, ice chips to suck on.

Build up to 1 oz an hour, then 2 oz an hour until the child is able to drink normally.

Your pediatrician may recommend a commercial rehydration solution to help replace lost sodium and potassium in a young child.

Give extra fluids in frequent, small sips, especially if the child is vomiting.
Choose clear soup, clear soda, or Pedialyte, if possible.
Give popsicles, ice chips, and cereal mixed with milk for added water or fluid.
Continue a regular diet.

It's not normal for a toddler to only pee twice a day.

A toddler should pee more than twice per day when they are properly hydrated.

Most toddlers urinate four to eight times each day, usually about every two hours or so.

Most toddlers have one or two bowel movements each day, some have three, and others skip a day or two in between movements.

It is normal for a toddler to pee every hour.

Some toddler pee as much as every 30 minutes to an hour and it's normal and some toddlers may go as long as a few hours without peeing.

As long as they are peeing every few hours they are usually healthy.

The more they drink the more they will pee and the less they drink the less they will pee.

A 2 year old needs between 8 to 32 ounces of liquid which can include milk, juice, tea, water etc.

As long as they are getting at least 8 to 32 ounces they are okay and they should drink as much liquid as they want too but don't overdo the milk.

Toddlers: 2 to 4 cups. 4-8 years: 5 cups. 9 -13 years: 7 to 8 cups.

Average healthy weight for a 2 year old is around 28 lbs to 30 lbs.

A 2 year old uses on average of 3 to 5 diapers per day.

Although some 2 year olds may use 6 to 7 diapers per day depending on how much they drink and how much they wet.

My kids when they were 2 years old would use 3 and sometimes 4 diapers per day and as they got older sometimes they would only use 2 to 3 diapers per day.

As long as your 2 year old is having at least a few wet diapers per day then they are hydrated and healthy.

Diaper changes are usually needed every few hours and sometimes only ever 3 to 4 hours.

The more the toddler drinks the more they will need to wet and if they poop then they should be changed after about 10 minutes of noticing it.

However if the 2 year old is sleeping and they poop and it's not bothering them or waking them up then it's safe to leave the 2 year old in the poop diaper overnight.
