During the winter our immune systems that fight off diseases and conditions are compromised and that's why cold sores more commonly manifest during the winter months.

It's not the winter itself causing the cold sores but the fact that our immune systems are weakened.

The virus for the cold sore would be there regardless of the weather but since our immune systems are not working as good during winter that's why we're more likely to get the cold sores during winter.
