Working from home instead of commuting to an office have several benefits and if you can work from home you should do so.
A few benefits of working from a home office instead of commuting to a standard office space are.
Short commute.
With a home office working from home you only have a short commute. That commute could be just a walk down the hallway or across from your bedroom.
No need to get up earlier and then make sure you arrive at work on time.
Be your own boss.
When you work from home you're most likely working for yourself and don't have a boss to answer too or have a boss staring over your shoulders ensuring you get things done and aren't slacking off on the job.
No office politics or stupid office banter to deal with.
I don't know about you but I hate office politics and I sure wish I could go work from home in my own office at home.
I'm working on that goal to eventually leave my current office job and be able to make a living working from home instead of commuting to an office and deal with the stupid banter and office politics.
Never have to call into your office as being sick.
If you become sick with the flu or other illness you don't have to ask your boss to let you off work for being sick or worry about getting fired.
You just take time off and do whatever you need to do to get better.
No asking a boss for time off.
If you want to take time off from work anytime you feel like it you can do so without having to ask your boss for time off.
You can also just get up out of your office chair and get away from your computer and go outside when you like and take a break.
You won't be chained to the desk at a traditional office job.
