When you don't see any other vehicles around you while driving you must still use your turn signals to signal a lane change or make a turn.

You must also still look in you rear view mirror and side mirrors to see behind you and to the left and right of you to watch for any potential vehicles that may suddenly appear.

The first car to have blinkers also known as turn signals was a 1939 Buick.

Only a few years after Joseph Bell's invention.

In 1939, Buick made the turn signal standard on their vehicles.

They were the first car company to do so.

When turning you should signal before and during the last 100 feet of the turn.

This is to give drivers behind you enough time to see your turn signals and know that you're about to turn.

Turn signals became standard equipment in cars and vehicles by the mid 1950's.

Before then the turn signals were optional bu then by the year 1965 the turn signals became legally required.

Initially the turn signals on vehicles were an option, but by the mid-1950s they came standard on most cars.

In 1965 Washington law made turn signals required equipment for cars, along with their use.

The law does require you to signal even when you don't see any cars around.

When you make any turns or change lanes the turn signals are legally required to be used as there could be cars coming up in your blind spot.

The law requires you to signal even when you don't see any cars around is true.

Even if you don't see any cars around there could be cars or a car that suddenly comes up behind you or in a lane ahead of you.

So the law states that you must always use your turn signals when making a turn even if you don't see any cars around.

You must always use your turn signals when changing lanes as well even if you don't see any cars around as cars can suddenly come up behind you.

Always use your turn signals when making a turn or changing lanes.

I've always got into the habit of turning my turn signals on and it's a good habit that I can't break which is good.

Even just driving in my small town where there really are no cars usually around I'm always using my turn signals.

If you fail to use your turn signals even when no other cars are around and a cop happens to show up or be watching and notices you could get ticketed.

The law does require you to use your turn signals when turning or changing lanes even when you don't see other cars around.

This is also because of blind spots.
