Both parents are actually responsible for the genes that lead to autism although it's found that the father passes on more than 50 percent of their genes responsible for autism.

There is no known single cause for autism spectrum disorder, but it is generally accepted that it is caused by abnormalities in brain structure or function.

Brain scans show differences in the shape and structure of the brain in children with autism compared to in neurotypical children.

Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger's, is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

Children with Asperger's Syndrome exhibit poor social interactions, obsessions, odd speech patterns, limited facial expressions and other peculiar mannerisms.

They might engage in obsessive routines and show an unusual sensitivity to sensory stimuli.

Asperger syndrome is a condition on the autism spectrum, with generally higher functioning.

People with this condition may be socially awkward and have an all-absorbing interest in specific topics.

Communication training and behavioral therapy can help people with the syndrome learn to socialize more successfully.

Autism is a complex, lifelong developmental disability that typically appears during early childhood and can impact a person's social skills, communication, relationships, and self-regulation.

The conditions autism and Asperger's syndrome are pretty similar but the only real difference between autism and Asperger's syndrome is that with Asperger's Syndrome there is no speech delay while in a person who has autism they might have a speech delay.

According to medical professionals Asperger's Syndrome is considered to be a less severe form of Autism.

There's also both high functioning autism and low functioning autism where someone with high functioning autism may seem pretty normal other than having a fear of speaking in front of others, having a hard time making eye contact etc.

And if someone has a lower functioning form of autism they would experience the same symptoms as a high functioning person with autism but it's more severe.

They may also have speech delays and an inability to focus properly etc.
