Cougars have small heads to streamline the cougars running.
In simple terms the small head help them see better and is to help them run faster due to streamlining.
If they had a bigger head they would likely not be able to run as fast as they are able to with their small head.
Cougars get there name cougars as they can sometimes prey on humans and a cougar is someone who preys on someone.
So that is one reason cougars are called cougars.
Cougars are also called panthers or even Pumas.
“Cougar” seems to have come from an old South American Indian word, cuguacuarana, which was shortened to "cuguar" and then spelled differently.
And “panther” is a general term for cats that have solid-colored coats, so it was used for black pumas as well as black jaguars and black leopards.
A panther and a cougar are really the same animal but just with a different name.
There's really no difference between a panther and a cougar except for the name.
The panther and cougar are basically the same type of large cat but they just have different names and some are different colors.
The panther or cougars have a lot of different names such as mountain cat, mountain lion, mountain screamer, painter, catamount.
Most black panthers live in Florida and Alabama.
However most black panthers have gone extinct in the USA.
In North Carolina as of 2011 it's believed that the black panthers in North Carolina have gone extinct although North Carolina used to have a lot of black panthers.
But I believe most of the black panthers have been hunted and killed in North Carolina and as of now there are very few black panthers living in the USA today.
Most black panthers live outside the USA and likely in the next 10 to 20 years or so black panthers in the USA will maybe be entirely extinct.
In some places Black Panthers have been killed and hunted and extinct in some areas since the 1930s.
