Trichomoniasis started and is caused by a tiny parasite.

Trich is caused by a really tiny parasite called a trichomona (you can't see it with the naked eye).

People get trich from having unprotected sexual contact with someone who has the infection.

It's spread when semen (cum), pre-cum, and vaginal fluids get on or inside your penis, vulva, or vagina.

As far as infections and diseases go Trichomoniasis is not all that bad although it can lead to some other health issues.

Trichomoniasis can increase the risk of getting or spreading other sexually transmitted infections.

For example, trichomoniasis can cause genital inflammation that makes it easier to get infected with HIV, or to pass the HIV virus on to a sex partner.

Trichomoniasis is not Chlamydia as they are different infections although they are often confused with each other.

Chlamydia and gonorrhea are caused by bacterial infection, while Trichomoniasis is caused by a parasitic infection.

You can still get trichomoniasis even without cheating as even your partner may have trichomoniasis for years without knowing it and it can also be spread through use of towels and sex toys and other personal items.

The first signs of trichomoniasis include.

An often foul-smelling vaginal discharge, which might be white, gray, yellow or green.
Genital redness, burning and itching.
Pain with urination or sexual intercourse.

With trichomoniasis you can have trichomoniasis for several years without even knowing it.

Although it affects both sexes, the health impact of trichomoniasis is manifested primarily in women.

Clinically, T. vaginalis infections in women are usually asymptomatic, or symptoms can appear weeks, months or years after an initial infection.

Many women and men infected with trichomoniasis (trich) do not have symptoms.

If symptoms develop, they usually appear within 1 week after a person is infected.

But symptoms can develop months later.

You can get trichomoniasis if you only have one partner through the sharing of towels and other things.

Or if your partner sat on a toilet seat where someone else has sat and had trichomoniasis then they may have spread it through the toilet seat and then you go it from your partner through sex.

Even if you have only one partner you can get the trichomoniasis if your partner has trichomoniasis and does not know about it.

Your partner could also get trichomoniasis even if they don't cheat on you as trichomoniasis can be spread through sharing personal items, such as towels.

Trichomoniais is most commonly spread through unprotected sex and the sharing of sex toys.

It is not thought the be passed on through oral or anal sex, and it is unlikely that you or your partner will contract Trichomoniasis outside of sexual activity.

Trichomoniasis is not caused by a yeast infection although it sometimes mistakenly is though that it is.

Trichomoniasis is caused by the Trichomonas vaginalis parasite, while yeast infections are caused by a fungus (usually the candida yeast).

These are two distinct types of organisms that exist and reproduce in different ways.

Trichomoniasis is also a strictly sexually transmitted infection.

A man can get rid of trichomoniasis the same way a woman can get rid of trichomoniasis which is by way of taking an antibiotic pill called Metronidazole.

The way you get tested for trichomoniasis is by looking at a sample of vaginal fluid for women or urine for men under a microscope.

If the parasite can be seen under the microscope, no further tests are needed.

If this test isn't conclusive, tests called rapid antigen tests and nucleic acid amplification may be used.

Once you begin taking metronidazole for trichomoniasis it usually cures the trichomoniasis within 7 to 10 days.

The best treatment and most common treatment for trichomoniasis is to take a pill known as metronidazole (Flagyl) or tinidazole (Tindamax).

The most common antibiotic that kills trichomoniasis is metronidazole.

Trichomoniasis is usually treated quickly and easily with antibiotics.

Most people are prescribed an antibiotic called metronidazole which is very effective if taken correctly.

You'll usually have to take metronidazole twice a day, for 5 to 7 days.

Sometimes this antibiotic can be prescribed in a single, larger dose.

It usually takes around 10 to 11 Flagyl pills to cure trichomoniasis.

A single 2 g dose of oral metronidazole is the recommended first-line treatment of trichomoniasis, with a 7-day dose (400 or 500 mg twice daily for 7 days) as second-line treatment.

When taking antibiotics for the trich the trich usually goes away within 7 to 10 days after beginning taking of the antibiotics.

The STD that metronidazole treats is trichomoniasis.

Yes you do take all 4 Metronidazole pills at once.

You will receive 4 white metronidazole pills (500mg each).

Take all 4 pills at the same time with a full glass of water.

The metronidazole 500 mg is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial and parasite infections.

Although the metronidazole 500 mg cannot treat the flu or cold virus.

Metronidazole is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections of the vagina, stomach, liver, skin, joints, brain and spinal cord, lungs, heart, or bloodstream.

Metronidazole is also used to treat trichomoniasis, a sexually transmitted disease caused by a parasite.

Metronidazole capsules and tablets are used to treat infections of the reproductive system, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, skin, heart, bone, joint, lung, blood, nervous system, and other areas of the body.

Metronidazole capsules and tablets are also used to treat sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

What should I avoid while taking metronidazole?

Do not drink alcohol or consume food or medicines that contain propylene glycol while you are taking metronidazole.

You may have unpleasant side effects such as headaches, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling).

This medication should take effect within 1 to 2 hours, and while effects may not be visibly noticed immediately, but gradual improvements are usually noticable after a few days.

Metronidazole tablets may make you feel drowsy, dizzy, confused or affect your vision, cause fits or hallucinations.

Make sure you are not affected before you drive, operate machinery or take part in any activities where these may put you or others at risk.
