Aspirin usually is still good if it smells like vinegar.

Although expired aspirin can take on a vinegar smell some fresh aspirin also has a slight vinegar smell to it as well.

I've noticed a vinegar like smell in some new bottles of aspirin that I bought and I've also noticed a bit stronger vinegar like smell in expired aspirin.

Both were safe to use and I took the aspirins without any health issues effecting me from doing so.

It is okay to take expired aspirin.

Expired aspirin is safe to take although it's less effective after it's expired.

Aspirin works best when you take it before expiration but even after the aspirin has expired it's not harmful to take the aspirin.

However even though expired aspirin is safe to take it can be nasty tasting to take the expired aspirin.

As the aspirin gets further and further past it's expiration date it can take on bad smells and chemical changes which makes the aspirin taste bad.

There's nothing dangerous about taking expired aspirin and I have taken some aspirin that has been expired for 5 years.

Although it was less effective it was still okay to take.

If you need to dispose of aspirin you can throw it in the trash, flush it down the toilet, bury it in the ground or take it to a drug take back program.

Your pharmacy or drug store may have an option to take back expired medicines including aspirin.
