Oil is thought to come from dinosaurs and of the oil we use could have actually came from dinosaurs but the majority of the oil or even all of the oil is from other things such as plants.

But even if the oil really did come from dinosaurs the oil we use today is not all from dinosaurs.

Oil is a fossil fuel but oil also comes from plants, algae and bacteria.

Petroleum, also called crude oil, is a fossil fuel.

Like coal and natural gas, petroleum was formed from the remains of ancient marine organisms, such as plants, algae, and bacteria.

Today, petroleum is found in vast underground reservoirs where ancient seas were located.

A so-called fossil fuel, petroleum is believed by most scientists to be the transformed remains of long dead organisms.

The majority of petroleum is thought to come from the fossils of plants and tiny marine organisms.

Larger animals might contribute to the mix as well.

According to scientists the popular idea that oil, gas, and coal are made of dead dinosaurs is mistaken.

Fossil fuels consist mainly of dead plants – coal from trees, and natural gas and oil from algae, a kind of water plant.
