I've run out of dish washing soap and was wondering if it's okay to use hair shampoo to wash dishes with?

Yes there's no problem with using shampoo for washing dishes if you need too.
I've used shampoo for hair to wash dishes in the past when I ran out of dish washing detergent.
Works just as good as regular dish washing detergent.
