A water pump leaks out the weep hole as a sign that the seals are going bad.

When the seals are good the water is kept out of the bearings and when the seals are bad in the water pump it allows the coolant to go through the seals which then go out of the weep holes.

When your water pump starts leaking coolant out of the weep hole it means the water pump is failing and you need to replace the water pump.

Eventually the small drips of water from the weep hole will start pouring out and leaving you stranded and even possibly damaging your engine due to overheating.

If the weep hole is leaking coolant from the water pump it needs to be fixed.

Don't be alarmed if you find a small amount of moisture or even oil around the weep hole; it's pretty normal.

You should be looking for significant leaks.

Sometimes the weep hole will get clogged, resulting in an underperforming or failed water pump.

Common signs of a failing water pump on a vehicle include coolant leaks at the front-center of the car, loose water pump pulley, overheating engine, and steam coming from the radiator.

The average lifespan of a water pump is similar to the lifespan of a timing belt.

Water pumps usually last 60,000 to 90,000 miles with the proper care.

However, some cheaper water pumps may begin leaking at as low as 30,000 miles.
