Engine belts last between 60,000 miles to 100,000 miles.
Another way to look at how long engine belts last is through years.
Most engine belts are good for and last up to 6 to 10 years.
If you notice any signs of cracking of the engine belt and the engine belt is 6 or 10 years old then it would be good to replace it regardless of mileage.
Belts eventually crack and wear out where they will eventually break and leave you stranded.
As preventative Maintenance it's a good idea to replace the engine belt every 8 to 10 years.
If you're planning on a long road trip you should also replace the engine belt with a new one if the belt is older than 8 years.
Or at least have a spare engine belt with you just in case you need it.
Today, most serpentine belts are expected to last anywhere from 60,000 to 100,000 miles.
Some engine belts can last significantly longer than this, while others give out before 60,000 miles.
Make sure to check your owner's manual to find out the recommended belt replacement time frame.
