Strep Throat is caused by bacterium known as Streptococcus pyogenes, also called group A streptococcus which a person gets infected with.
The Streptococcal bacteria is contagious and it can spread through droplets when someone with the infection coughs or sneezes, or through shared food or drinks.
The difference between strep throat and sore throat is that strep throat is a bacterial infection of the throat and a sore throat is a viral or a bacterial infection of the throat, although more than 90 percent of cases are caused by a virus.
You feel pain in your throat and suddenly it hurts to swallow.
Also with strep throat you will usually have a fever along with the strep throat while sore throats can occur without a fever.
Strep Throat will usually last from 5 to 7 days but if the strep throat lasts longer than 7 days then you should see a doctor.
Most cases of strep throat lasts for 5 to 7 days before the strep throat goes away on it's own.
You can help get rid of the strep throat sooner by going to the doctor and getting antibiotics for the strep throat.
When taking the antibiotics for the strep throat the strep throat usually goes away within a few days or so and it helps to ease the pain associated with strep throat as well.
Gargling with apple cider vinegar and even gargling with some warm salt water also helps to get rid of sore throat and eases it as well.
When I've had strep throat it went away within 7 days without any medical treatment or antibiotics but the second time I got strep throat I went to the doctor and got antibiotics and the strep throat then cleared up within 4 days.
I also gargled with some apple cider vinegar and even drank some warm apple cider vinegar mixed with a bit of hot tea.
The apple cider vinegar is antibacterial as well which can help kill the bacteria causing the strep throat.
If the strep throat gets worse or does not go away within a week or so then see a doctor about it as it might be more serious.
