Not all babies are born white.

A baby will be born with the skin color of their parents.

For example if the parents are both black in color or dark skinned then the baby will be born black or dark skinned.

If the parents are parents that are interracial meaning one of the parents is white skinned while other parent is blacked or dark skinned then the baby may be born partially white and partially black colored skin.

When a baby is first born, the skin is usually a dark red to purple color.

As the baby begins to breathe air, the color changes to red.

This redness normally begins to fade in the first day.

A baby's hands and feet may stay bluish in color for several days.

The babies skin may look somewhat red, pink, or purple at first.

Some babies are born with a white coating called vernix caseosa, which protects their skin from the constant exposure to amniotic fluid in the womb.

The vernix is washed off with the baby's first bath.

Other babies are born very wrinkled.
