Giraffes do not eat their babies.

Giraffes do however sometimes kick their newborns though but for good reason and not to injure or harm them.

The baby Giraffe falls from its mother's womb, some eight feet above the ground.

Until the baby giraffe, still trembling and tired, pushes its limbs and for the first time learns to stand on its feet.

Happy to see the baby standing on its own feet, the mother giraffe comes over and gives it yet another kick.

Some other animals that do eat their babies include mother bears, felines, canids, primates, and many species of rodents—from rats to prairie dogs—have all been seen killing and eating their young.

Insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and birds also have been implicated in killing, and sometimes devouring, the young of their own kind.

The giraffe is an African artiodactyl mammal, the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant.

It is traditionally considered to be one species, Giraffa camelopardalis, with nine subspecies.
