Scarlet Fever begins with flu like symptoms and the rash with scarlet fever feels like sandpaper on your chest and stomach and may appear as pink or red color.

The fever temperature with scarlet fever is around 100.4 F

Slapped Cheek and Scarlet Fever are similar illnesses but they are not the same and are different.

Slapped Cheek and Scarlet Fever are often times confused with each other because they seem similar.

But Slapped Cheek and Scarlet Fever are two different health conditions and no they are not the same although they seem the same.

Slapped Cheek starts with a rash on the child's cheek that looks like someone slapped the child on the cheek which is why it's called slapped cheek.

The slapped cheek also sometimes spreads to other parts of the child's body a few days afterwards.

Slapped Cheek is contagious so if your child has slapped cheek they need to stay home from daycare or school until they are no longer contagious.

The slapped cheek is spread by touching or breathing in the coughed or sneezed fluid drops from an infected person and the child or person will remain contagious until 24 hours after the fever has gone away.

Scarlet Fever is similar to measles and also causes a rash and also a sore throat usually but slapped cheek does not lead to a sore throat.

Both scarlet fever and slapped cheek are contagious so keep your child home from daycare or school until they are no longer contagious.
