A gastrostomy tube lasts for about 8 months before it needs changed out and replaced for health reasons.

A PEG tube is the same as a gastrostomy tube.

A gastrostomy tube is a tube that passes through the abdominal wall into the stomach and A tube that is placed this way is called a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, or PEG, tube.

PEG Tubes should be changed out every 8 months to prevent skin infection and Fungal Growth.

A Gastrostomy Tube for adults and children is also known as  PEG Tube or feeding tube which are used to provide a route for enteral feeding, hydration, and medication administration in patients who are likely to have prolonged inadequate or absent oral intake.

A gastrostomy procedure is a surgical procedure that is done to allow the insertion of a feeding tube through the abdomen and into the stomach.

The gastrostomy procedure is also known as a G Tube.

The main dangers of a feeding tube are possible infections and death that can occur from those infections.

Other dangers and complications of feeding tubes are constipation, diarrhea, dehydration and skin issues around the site of the feeding tube.

Infections in your abdomen and tears in your intestines.

Feeding tubes can in rare cases cause death.

Although feeding tubes are usually pretty safe some people do experience complications with feeding tubes and may also get infections that can lead to death.

Some people who have feeding tubes installed may suffer from chronic neurological or mechanical dysphagia or gut dysfunction, mechanical, gastrointestinal, infectious and metabolic complications.

If the person suffers from any of those complications when they have a feeding tube then they may get more serious health issues or in rare cases die.

But the good news is that most people are using feeding tubes without any complications.

But still you have to be very careful and the feeding tube has to be installed properly to prevent possible infection and other complications.

Only a trained person should install feeding tubes to prevent the possibility of death and infection from the feeding tubes.
