There is no cure for Polio but a Polio Vaccine is available and should be given to babies to prevent Polio.

Infantile Paralysis which is also known as Polio is caused when the polio virus enters the body through the mouth, usually from hands contaminated with the stool of an infected person.

Polio is more common in infants and young children and occurs under conditions of poor hygiene.

Infantile Paralysis is an old term for what is now called Polio.

Infantile paralysis is an old synonym for poliomyelitis, an acute and sometimes devastating viral disease.

Man is the only natural host for poliovirus.

The virus enters the mouth and multiplies in lymphoid tissues in the pharynx and intestine.

Polio also known as infantile paralysis is transmitted through contaminated water and food or contact with an infected person.

Many people who are infected with the poliovirus don't become sick and have no symptoms.

However, those who do get sick develop paralysis, which can sometimes be fatal.

Treatment for infantile paralysis or polio includes bed rest, pain relievers, and portable ventilators.

Polio is a viral disease which may affect the spinal cord causing muscle weakness and paralysis.

The polio virus enters the body through the mouth, usually from hands contaminated with the stool of an infected person.

Polio is more common in infants and young children and occurs under conditions of poor hygiene.

There are three wild types of poliovirus (WPV) – type 1, type 2, and type 3.

People need to be protected against all three types of the virus in order to prevent polio disease and the polio vaccination is the best protection.

People who have milder polio symptoms usually make a full recovery within 1–2 weeks.

People whose symptoms are more severe can be weak or paralyzed for life, and some may die.

After recovery, a few people might develop "post-polio syndrome" as long as 30–40 years after their initial illness.
