The most common reason a baby's heart stop in the womb is a problem in the placenta (the tissue that carries food and blood to the baby).

Birth defects and genetic disorders can cause IUGR. If the mother has an infection, high blood pressure, is smoking, or drinking too much alcohol or abusing drugs, her baby might have IUGR.

Once the fetus is dead it will not grow anymore but there may still be some movement when you move your body.

The most common symptom of a dead fetus is no foetal movements in the womb and if you don't feel any kicking or movement from the baby then the fetus or baby may be dead.

Also feeling like you're not pregnant anymore and vaginal bleeding and abdominal cramping are also common signs and symptoms of a dead fetus.

Also not hearing a heartbeat when listening with a Doppler.

You can take steps during your pregnancy to try and prevent the stillbirth or miscarriage as much as possible but there's no 100 percent sure way of preventing stillbirths or miscarriages.

There's no way to prevent stillbirths 100 percent but there are some things you can do during your pregnancy to reduce the risk of having a stillbirth.

Some things you can do to prevent a stillbirth are sleep on your side, avoid alcohol, eat healthy and stay active, avoid smoking, get the flu shot and avoid people who are ill.

Also make sure to all of your antenatal appointments. It's important not to miss any of your antenatal appointments.

The most common sign and symptom of a stillborn baby is when you suddenly stop feeling the baby moving around or kicking in the womb.

If you suddenly feel no kicking or moving around and there's still no movement within 30 minutes or so then you could have a stillborn baby.

Cramps, Pain and bleeding from your vagina are also signs of a stillborn baby.

You should see your doctor if you do think you have a stillborn baby.

Also if you miscarry you should see a doctor about it as well.

You can still get morning sickness even if the baby has died and you miscarried the baby.

Although many miscarriages do begin with symptoms of pain and bleeding during the miscarriage, there are often no such signs with a missed miscarriage.

Your bodies pregnancy hormones may continue to be high for some time after the baby has died, so you may continue to feel pregnant and a pregnancy test may well still show positive.

After the baby dies in the womb before 20 weeks of pregnancy it may take a few days to as long as a few weeks before you miscarry after the baby dies.

The baby does die before a miscarriage happens.

When you have a miscarriage the baby dies in the mothers womb before 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Yes you can have a miscarriage without knowing about it although most times a miscarriage shows signs to the pregnant woman.

It is possible for a woman to have a miscarriage without knowing about it.

Most times a woman who does have a miscarriage and they will know about it but sometimes a woman miscarries a baby and then never knows about it until they see a doctor.

However some signs of a miscarriage are vaginal bleeding and the vaginal bleeding when you have a miscarriage can sometimes be followed by cramping and pain in your lower abdomen.

If you suddenly experience vaginal bleeding and have cramping or pain in your lower abdomen and you're pregnant then you may have miscarried the baby and should see a doctor.

You can also go to the hospital if you do feel that you may have miscarried.

I miscarried my first baby and didn't know about it until I went to the doctor because I felt some cramping even though I never was bleeding.
