Cherophobia is a phobia when someone has an aversion to happiness.

The fear of happiness is called cherophobia and fear of happiness, is an attitude towards happiness in which individuals may deliberately avoid experiences that invoke positive emotions or happiness.

Cherophobia the term comes from the Greek word “chero,” which means “to rejoice.”

When a person experiences cherophobia, the person is often afraid to participate in activities that many would characterize as fun, or of being happy.

It seems weird that someone would fear being happy but it does happen.

I have a friend that I went to school with who had a fear of being happy and his doctor said he had a condition that was called Cherophobia.

It's a real condition and although he wanted to be happy he just could not physically be happy especially around people.

At home though he was pretty happy but when around strangers that were being happy he would be sad.
