Crooked big toes can be caused by birth defects, poor fitting shoes, wearing shoes on the wrong foot or even tight fitting shoes.

Toe spacers can help bunions by making them less painful and making them less unsightly.

But toe spacers will not completely fix bunions.

The only real and true way to completely fix bunions is to have bunion surgery to get rid of the bunions.

You can get a bunion on your little toe or any toe.

Bunions whether on your little toe or big toe or any other toe can be a result of a birth defect, poor or tight fitting shoes and even later on in life you can develop bunions or crooked toes.

bunions and crooked toes can run in families and if your parents or brother, sister etc has or had bunions then it's possible for you to be born with bunions or crooked toes.

Bunions can be a birth defect for some people.

Some people are born with bunions and crooked toes and some people develop the bunions and crooked toes later on in life.

My brother was born with crooked toes and bunion and in his case his bunions and crooked toes are a birth defect.

Bunions can be caused by wearing tight fitting shoes, wearing shoes on the wrong foot, and also bunions can be a birth defect.

My brother was born with his big toes pointing outwards and his toes are crooked and have been since birth.

He has not opted for bunion surgery but I told him he should as they could correct the bunions and crooked toes.

Bunion surgery is a good idea especially if the bunions are causing you pain and discomfort or they are too severe looking.

Bunion surgery is considered mostly cosmetic though so you would need to pay out of pocket for the bunion surgery.

Most podiatrists do bunion surgery as well as orthopedic surgeons and sometimes foot specialists can do bunion surgery as well.

Orthopedic surgeons are the doctors that most commonly do bunion surgery.

Your doctor or even foot specialists can refer you to a bunion surgeon.

A few different types of doctors do bunion surgery and those who do bunion surgery are doctors such as foot specialists, podiatrist and an orthopedic surgeon.

You could see a podiatrist or foot specialist or talk to your doctor and they can refer you to someone who can do the bunion surgery.

The hospital may also do the bunion surgery once an appointment is setup for them to do so.

Bunion Surgery is pretty expensive and the cost of Bunion Surgery ranges from $4,000.00 to $8,000.00 depending on how much surgery needs to be done to correct your bunions.

If you're looking to do both feet and get rid of a major bunion then the cost could be up to $10,000.00

The cost for bunion surgery is usually not covered under health insurance or medical insurance unless the bunions are actually severe enough to make it painful for you to walk etc.

If the bunions are just unsightly to you and it's not causing you any pain then the cost of the bunion surgery would have to be paid out of pocket.

So you would have to have the full amount to pay for the bunion surgery before it will be performed.
