If your space heater is tripping the electric circuit breaker then it's either because the circuit is overloaded or the space heater is bad and has a short in it.

If you have other things on the same circuit as the space heater then it could be drawing more amps than the circuit can handle.

Newer homes have 20 amp breakers on outlets and some older homes may have 15 amps on the circuits.

If your breaker is 15 amp then the space heater will use almost all of those amps to run and leave very little amps for other electric things.

20 amp electric breakers leave more electricity capacity but you should never replace a 15 amp breaker with a 20 amp breaker because it can overheat the wire and cause a fire.

a space heater can overload an electrical circuit and cause a breaker to trip.

If you have your electric space heater plugged into an outlet that has other things on the same outlet and those other things are drawing power then the electric space heater could overload that electrical circuit and trip the breaker.

Electric space heaters draw 1500 watts of electricity on the high setting so they need enough amps to run without tripping the breaker.

It's best to run an electric space heater on a dedicated circuit with nothing else on that circuit.

Electric space heaters do cause high electric bills.

Electric heating with electric space heaters is the most expensive way to heat a home and use of just one electric space heater can cost you around $1.50 to $2.00 per day of run time depending on your KWH cost and how long you run the space heater.

A space heater consumes 1500 watts of electricity per hour which is a lot of electricity so your electric bill will go up when the electric space heater is in use.

It costs on average of 15 cents to 20 cents per hour of run time for an electric space heater depending on your electricity costs.

I once had to try to heat a house with 4 electric space heaters running constantly and my electric bill went up to $500.00 for that month.

My natural gas bill is only $150.00 per month and my house stays much warmer.
