Thanking God for something a human did is wrong?

When a human saves another human why do people say Thank You God?

Or Thank you Jesus?

That is so wrong as God and Jesus had nothing to do with it and the person who saved you or your family should be the one to be thanked.

Although I'm religious and do believe in a god I do not believe that the god or Jesus should be praised or thanked for something a human has done.

God did not guide a surgeons hand, guide a doctors hand etc in saving the person through emergency surgery or any other surgery.

Nor did god or Jesus have anything to do with helping a firefighter rescue someone from a house or other danger.

Or for example my husband waded into high rushing water to save a little boy from a car where he was stuck in a car seat and trapped and the car was gonna be washed away.

My husband risked his own life to save that little boy and did save him and carried him back to his mom and his mom didn't even thank my husband.

She immediately said oh thank you Jesus for saving my son.

My husband was kinda upset that he didn't get thanked but understood.

Still people should be thanking the actual people that helped them.
