The consistency at which toddler poop should be is soft and formed.

Just like the consistency of your own poop the toddlers poop should be the same consistency and if not then they may need a change in their diet or are sick.

Most toddlers poop once per day to once every 2 days or so depending on their diet.

To slow down your toddlers diarrhea you should increase the toddlers water intake and feed them foods that are more starchy but avoid giving the toddler any beans that can lead to more diarrhea.

You can also buy some anti diarrhea medicine that can help stop the diarrhea in toddlers but make sure the toddler is old enough to take it.

If the diarrhea lasts longer than a few days or the toddler seems dehydrated then take the toddler to the doctor.

In most cases though the diarrhea will stop within a few days.

You should be concerned about your toddlers loose stools if the loose stools don't firm up after a few days when you change the toddlers diet or if the toddler shows signs of dehydration then they need to go to the emergency room.

Diarrhea and having too much loose stools can lead to dehydration quickly especially if the toddler does not drink enough fluids.

Also if blood shows up in the diarrhea or loose stools or the toddler has more than 8 loose stools in 8 hours which means it can be more severe.

When a toddler has loose stools and you need to firm the loose stools up you should feed the toddler fiber based foods such as apples, pears, grapes etc.

Also feed the toddler some more foods that have more fat content in them such as turkey, fish, chicken, beef, hotdogs and pork, sausages, bacon.

Other good things to feed a toddler with loose stools are apple sauce, bananas, bread, pasta, white rice, waffles, pancakes, cereals including cereals such as cornflakes, cream of wheat, farina and even oatmeal.

Loose stools in a toddler can be caused by a diet that is high in sugar and low in fat and so usually changing the diet of the toddler can sometimes stop the loose stools.

You can also give the toddler more fiber based foods such as apples, pears, etc to increase the toddlers fiber intake.

If a toddler has diarrhea all the time it's usually caused by a diet that is low in fat content and high in sugar and fluids.

If your toddler is drinking too much fruit juices that can be a cause of constant diarrhea in your toddler and although it's okay and good for a toddler to drink fruit juice they should also have other drinks such as water, milk etc.

The toddler could also be intolerant to some foods that they eat and so I would take the toddler to a doctor and let them know that the diarrhea is happening all the time.

Diarrhea should not happen all the time in anyone and especially toddlers as it can lead to dehydration.

Most kids diarrhea lasts for 1 to 2 days before going away.

As long as the kids diarrhea goes away within 2 days and they are staying hydrated then they are likely gonna be just fine.

You only need to take the child to the doctor or hospital for diarrhea if it gets worse, the child gets dehydrated or the diarrhea lasts longer than 3 to 4 days.

If the diarrhea does get worse or does not stop on it's own within a few days or if the kid is getting dehydrated or won't drink fluids take them to the doctor or hospital.

You can keep the kid hydrated using some Pedialyte which helps restore the kids lost electrolytes and have them drink some apple juice, orange juice, water etc.

Ensure the child is getting some vitamins as well.

If the child is sick enough to not be able to get up to the toilet then it might be a good idea to have them wear diapers as it's easier to clean a messy diaper than it is to clean sheets, clothes etc.

My 8 year old son had diarrhea and was sick with the flu last month and could barely get up out of bed so I had him wear diapers.

He fits in Size 7 Gentle Steps Diapers from Dollar General.

He normally wears them for bed wetting but I had him wear them while he was sick and just told him he could pee in them too and I would change him.
