A child is usually ready to take a bath by themselves by age 5 years old.

However some children are able to bathe themselves as early as age 3 years old but still they need supervision to ensure they are safe and also to ensure they are getting clean.

Never leave a child unsupervised in the bath before age 3 years old as they can easily drown or be injured and die.

However once the child gets to 3 years old and above you can leave them unsupervised in the bathtub but have the door open and check on them every 10 minutes or so.

My mom used to leave me in the bathtub at age 3, 4 and 5 and I was okay.

After I turned 6 years old she stopped coming in to watch me while taking a bath.
