Although checks are not as widely used as before the checks are still in pretty widespread use of of now.
It's unlikely that checks will ever become obsolete or at least not in the next 20 or 30 years.
Checks can still be very useful for paying people, companies etc.
Most people do not use checks anymore for making in store purchases but some people still write checks to pay bills with.
We could see checks eventually becoming obsolete but it's not likely to happen anytime soon and likely not for another 30 or 40 or even 50 years.
I still use checks myself to pay for some bills that don't accept online bill payment or credit or debit cards.
Not every business does things completely online even though you'd think they would be by now.
