DVD's are slowly becoming obsolete and not as many people watch DVD's or rent DVD's anymore because of the online streaming content and Netflix, Hulu and other streaming services.

Still some people like to watch DVD's and they still make DVD players and people still buy them as well.

It will likely be another 10 year to 20 years or so before the DVD and DVD players actually do become obsolete.

Some people still watch VHS tapes on older VHS players but they don't make VHS players or VHS tapes anymore.

The quality of DVD video is much better than any VHS tapes as well but most streaming content is even better quality than DVD videos.

I still watch some DVD's that I have but mostly I use my Roku player to stream content on my TV.

Of course I hardly watch much TV but when I do it's mostly the Roku player that streams the content for me.
