Yes recessed lighting does add value to your home.
If you have a dimly lit kitchen, dimly lit bedroom, dimly lit living room or any other room that is dimly lit then adding recessed lighting to those rooms adds value to the home.
Recessed lighting when installed correctly and space apart correctly makes the home look much better and the home will usually sell for more and much faster than a home without recessed lighting.
When I bought my home I was interested in homes that had recessed lighting and I was prepared to pay more for a house that had recessed lighting than one without.
The recessed lighting makes the home look much better and makes it brighter inside the home.
I especially like recessed lighting in my home office which I can turn on and off when I need more light or don't need more light.
