The proper way to load a dishwasher is to put flat pans and platters on the bottom rack of the dishwasher and other dishes such as regular pans, plates, bowls, cups etc go on the top rack of the dishwasher.

However you can put larger pans or larger pots on the bottom rack of the dishwasher if need be.

If you want your dishes really clean and for the dishwasher to do the dishes and work properly then yes it does matter how you load the dishwasher.

I put tall cups on the bottom rack upside down and small cups or coffee mugs I place upside down on the top rack.

Placing them upside down allows the water and soap to drain off the inside of the dishes.

When washing bowls in the dishwasher the bowls go on the bottom rack of the dishwasher and should be placed upside down on the bottom rack of the dishwasher so that they get cleaner.

Plates also go on the bottom rack of the dishwasher just like the bowls do as well as any flat pans or platters should be put on the bottom rack of the dishwasher.

The dishes that go on the top rack of the dishwasher machine are glasses, coffee cups and odd-shaped utensils and the silverware rack in the dishwasher is for things such as forks, knives, spoons, measuring spoons and small utensils.

Also make sure to remove any food debris from your dishes so that the dishwasher does not become clogged with those food particles.

But the dishwasher will do most of the cleaning of the dishes.
