How do you get a toddler to potty train?

My 2 year old son does not want to potty train and seems like he would rather wear his diaper.

My 2 year old refuses to use the toilet and insists on wearing diapers and will have a fit if I try to change his wet diaper.

He actually took his fresh new diaper off today and put his old wet diaper back on as I saw him doing so.

He seems to love wet diapers.

How can I get my 2 year old son to stop wearing diapers and go to the toilet?

To get a toddler to potty train the toddler needs to be fully ready and willing.

Although some 2 year olds are ready to potty train and not want to wear diapers some 2 year olds are not ready and it's perfectly normal for a 2 year old to not be potty trained.

I believe 2 years old is still a bit too young to fully grasp the potty training and I would wait until at least 3 years old which is when my son potty trained.

If the child is actually ready to potty train then the potty training usually goes through just fine within a week or even 6 months.

I would say that since your toddler does not want to potty and wants to wear the diaper that he really is not ready.

I would just put the toddler back in diapers and wait another 6 months to a year.

Enjoy your 2 year old in diapers as you will really miss those days eventually.

He'll get the concept of potty training eventually but for now I don't believe he's ready.

Training pants can hinder potty training for some kids.

However as long as you keep reminding the toddler to go potty then the training pants should not cause any problems with potty training.

I've potty trained my 3 year old son with regular diapers and they didn't hinder the potty training either.

The diapers are cheaper than training pants and training pants are just pull on diapers.

I just put the diaper on my 3 year old a little looser than normal so he could pull the diaper down and pull the diaper back on.

I reminded him that the diaper was just in case he didn't make it to the bathroom and to pull the diaper down and go to the toilet.

Eventually he learned to go to the toilet and after 6 months of wearing the diapers he was able to go without them.

Once he was able to keep a diaper dry for a week I stopped putting him in diapers in the day.

At night he still needed to wear diapers though because of bed wetting which is normal
