Why don't they invent a phone battery that lasts for years?

Am I the only one that a cell phone battery will only last for 2 years before I have to replace it? Why can't they make cell phone batteries last for longer than 2 years?

It could be that you've gotten a bad battery. I've had cell phone batteries last 5 years in the same cell phone.

I guess they don't make batteries last long for some phones though because most cell phone users replace and upgrade their cell phones within 1 or 2 years.
