Yes left handedness is genetic but not in the same way that other things are inherited through genetics.

If the mother or father is left handed then there's a good chance that the baby that is born would be left handed but not always.

I'm right handed and my son is left handed and my wife is right handed as well so my son did not inherit the left handedness from either of his parents.

But it's possible for one of the parents to be left handed and the child be born left handed as well.

However the child could inherit the left handedness from other family as well such as Grandpa, Grandma, sister, brother etc.

Most people are right handed though and being left handed is rare and only about 5 to 10 percent of the world population are left handed while the rest of the world population are right handed.
