What does the word sub freezing mean?

In weather terms what does Sub Freezing temperatures mean? We're supposed to have sub freezing temperatures tonight.

Sub zero tempers means it will get to 23 F or lower in temperature and things such as plants and water pipes will freeze.

Sub Zero Temps are really cold and if the wind is blowing the temperature will feel much colder.
