The word Piggyback ride is derived from the act of carrying a pick pack on someone's back many years ago.

From what I can gather the word Piggyback is an actual misspelling of the Pick Pack.

Pick Pack is where you carry someone or something on your shoulders although I've also heard that many years ago some farmers would carry small pigs or pigs they could carry on their shoulders.

There's no 100 percent proof that happened all those years ago but from what I've came across studying I've read about the farmers who may have carried pigs on their back.

So that could be a reason it's called a piggy back ride when you give someone or a kid a ride on your shoulders.

Either way saying piggyback ride is better than saying a human back ride or a pick pack ride.

Piggyback sounds so much cuter especially when saying it to kids and my own kids loved and loves piggyback rides.

I also used to love getting piggyback rides from my Grandpa, Dad and even my older brother and older sister.
