You can use single wall wood stove pipe outdoors if you have too but it will rust away sooner and need replaced around 2 or 3 years.
I've used single wall pipe outside when I had too but I recommend using a stainless steel pipe for outside.
The double wall pipe is what you should use as you can get it closer to the wall than you can with single wall pipe.
