Not all banks charge ATM fees to those who have a bank account with them and use their bank owned ATM machine.

However if you use your debit card with another bank owned ATM machine that is not within your own banks network then you will be charged an ATM fee for withdrawal of money from your account.

If possible use your own banks owned ATM machines to withdraw money so that you will not be charged an ATM fee.

But if possible go into your bank to withdraw cash if you are near any of your banks branches.

For example my bank has other branches of the bank in several states and just about every state I travel through I can go into the bank and withdraw cash when needed so that saves me money by not having to use an ATM machine when I do need cash.

Although I mostly use my debit card for purchases.

All banks charge ATM fees if you're not their customer but if you're their customer most banks will waive the fee for the ATM usage.
