The cost of a plumber replacing a water heater ranges from $500.00 to as much as $1,500.00 depending on how much work is needed and the cost of the water heater.

If you hire a plumber to replace the water heater and the plumber brings their own water heater then they'll be a markup in price on the water heater.

New water heaters cost between $350.00 to as much as $1,000.00 and sometimes more depending on the size of water heater, what type of water heater and what brand of water heater.

If you can hire a local handyman to replace the water heater then you may only have to pay $200.00 to $300.00 in labor charges.

Or if you can replace the water heater yourself you can do so for just the cost of the water heater and your time.

Hiring a plumber to replace the water heater may be required in some places depending on your local codes but some places you can hire even unlicensed people to replace the water heater.
