When a pacifier is used to long it can delay speech in toddlers.
Once a child gets to 1 year old you should start removing the pacifier and weaning them off the pacifier. I would actually recommend getting rid of the pacifier before age 1 so you'll have less trouble getting the child to give up the pacifier.
When a child constantly has a pacifier in their mouth it makes it hard for them to start speaking.
