Slugs cannot hear you as slugs do not have any ears or any auditory organs that allow the slugs to hear.

You can make loud noises, sing to them or even talk to the slugs and they won't be bothered as they cannot hear anything.

Instead of slugs hearing soundwaves like humans and other animals, slugs instead experience the environment through other senses, which include light, smell and taste, touch and vibration.

Slugs have light sensitive cells that spread across the slugs bodies, which allows the slugs to detect shadows and recoil from bright lights.

Slugs also have chemical detect abilities for smell and taste, which are highly advanced.

And slugs rely heavily on what is called chemosensors to smell their surroundings and follow any scent trails to food.

And because a slugs eyesight is extremely poor, slugs use touch extensively, feeling their way around with their bodies and antennae.

And while slugs cannot hear, slugs can however feel vibrations like from heavy footsteps or loud bass through their bodies.

Slugs can be harmful to humans as some slugs carry a parasite called rat lungworm which can transfer into your pet if they eat a slug.

If a human were to eat one of these infectious slugs, the parasites would travel into the brain and even the spinal cord causing tissue damage.

So its best to avoid touching slugs, and if you do need to touch a slug you should wear gloves to protect your hands and wash your hands off with warm soapy water after you do come into contact with a slug.

If you need to kill slugs, you can pour salt on the slugs body, which will dehydrate the slug and kill them near instantly.
