No.

Lexapro is not the same as Xanax.

Lexapro and Xanax are similar medicines however they are not the same thing and are different.

Lexapro and Xanax are different prescription medicines although they both treat anxiety and depression.

The Lexapro medicine is an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) drug and Xanax is a benzodiazepine medicine.

Once you start taking Lexapro the Lexapro should kick in within 10 to 24 hours of taking it for the first time.

However while you should begin feeling some of the affects of the Lexapro the same day or at least the next day it can take awhile longer to feel the full affects of taking the Lexapro.

To feel the full affects and get the full benefits from taking the Lexapro it can take up to 4 to 6 weeks of taking the Lexapro for it to fully kick in.

Then as you continue taking the Lexapro it should keep the affect on you until you no longer take it.

For me it took me 6 weeks to feel the full affects from the Lexapro.

I thought something was wrong and thought the Lexapro was not working for me so I spoke with my doctor and the doctor said that it was normal for it to take 4 to 6 weeks before I felt the full affects of the Lexapro.

The body needs time to adjust to the Lexapro.

Don't increase your dosage of the Lexapro unless you speak with your doctor first.
