However cellphones did not come into common use into around 1980's and even then the cellphones were not widely used as much until around 1998.
In 1998 the cellphone began to get even more popular than they were then.
But cellphones in 1998 were still not all that great of cellphones but they worked pretty great.
Now that it's 2020 we have all sorts of cellphones including smartphones.
There also used to be car phones in the 1950's but not everyone could afford them.
