Mice do not like the light and prefer the dark.

Most mice come out when it's dark such as when you shut your lights off at night the mice then come out because they also think that you're not awake and won't disturbed them.

I have noticed that when I hear mice or a mouse in the house that when turn on the light I've seen the mouse or mice run off and hide.

Most times I've noticed mice come out at night when my lights are turned off.

Some mice are active during the day though so it's normal to see mice out at night but mostly you'll see the mice coming out at night.

Mice are nocturnal creatures.

Some home remedies that you can use to get rid of mice is to make a bucket mouse trap or set out regular mouse traps to kill the mouse.

You can make a bucket mouse trap by taking a bucket and greasing the inside of the bucket to make it slippery using either some motor oil, grease or even just cooking oil.

You want to make the sides of the inside of the bucket slippery so the mice who fall into the bucket cannot climb back out.

To make a bucket mouse trap you need a soda can, tin can or something else that the mouse can spin on and fall into the bucket.

Poke holes in the can at both ends and insert a dowel or metal rod and tape it or mount it on the bucket.

Then fill the bucket with water and soap.

When the mouse gets onto the can and falls in they will drown in the bucket and die.

The best place to place mouse traps is where the mice are hanging out.

For example if the mice are running around on your counter then place mouse traps on your counter to catch the mice.

Also place mouse traps on the floor near your stove, counter, inside kitchen cabinets if your mouse is getting into the kitchen cabinets somehow.

I also recommend placing mouse traps around your house outside where you notice mice are coming in.

It's best to get the mouse trapped before it is able to enter your home.

Mouse traps can be reused multiple times to catch multiple mice.

If you have the wood snap mouse traps or other snap mouse traps they can be reused multiple times until you catch all the mice or until the mouse trap breaks.

I have several of the wood mouse traps that I've used for 10 years now catching mice over and over when they are active and come into my house.

I also set mouse traps outside around the house where the mice may come into the house.

Sometimes the mice get trapped and killed before they are able to enter the house which is a good thing.

To keep mice out of your house make sure to clean up debris around your house and seal up any holes with some wire that the mice cannot get through so easily.
